Sandra Gentry, of Abbottsford, British Columbia, lost 77 pounds with DietPower. After that, she achieved an athletic milestone and lost even more weight. Here are three e-mails describing her experience:
"I have been overweight for about 12 years. I've tried every diet on the market—Jenny Craig, Nutri/System (lost 80 pounds in 1989, but gained that back and more), Weight Watchers, etc.
"This past January I was surfing the Net looking for an answer to my weight-loss question: 'What am I going to try now?' I found a support group, and from that group I discovered DietPower.
"As soon as I downloaded the program, I knew this was going to be the answer. As of today, I've lost 77 pounds. I started off walking on a treadmill for 10 minutes a day, and slowly increased it. I am now in training for a 10K run next month. It's held every year in memory of Terry Fox, an amputee who attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. I walk and run on the treadmill six or seven days a week. I also do weight training in my home five days a week.
"The biggest surprise is that I can eat almost anything I want (within reason) as long as I enter everything into DietPower. It's been so easy to do, I wish I had found the program sooner.
"I haven't had many bad moments or challenges. Don't get me wrong; I have had a few higher-calorie days, but I did more exercise the next day to try to make up for them.
"What I like about DietPower is that it keeps track of everything and is so easy to use. Every morning I plan my meals for the day and enter them into DietPower, and then I know how many calories I have left over for snacks, or even a glass of wine if desired.
"Now, two friends and I have developed our own Web page in hopes of helping other women lose weight. We tell everyone about DietPower!"
"I completed the Terry Fox 10K Run on Sunday in 1 hour 3 minutes. It was a great accomplishment for me. Eight months ago I never would have imagined doing anything like that. Here's a picture of me taken on the day of the race.
"I know I have said it many times, but I owe so much of my success to DietPower, I just had to thank you again.
"I also reached my goal weight this week, and one of my partners, Allison, reached goal last week. It is an exciting time for us, but also scary because we are in new territory now. We keep in touch with other dieters via our Web site, and we plan on using DietPower to help us maintain our weight loss."
"My Web friends and I are busy testing the newest version of DietPower. One of our favorite improvements is that it tracks 'Aunt Flo.' When you enter your weight, there's a box you can mark off that says, 'My period started this day,' so it won't lower your calorie budget just because Aunt Flo gave you a temporary weight gain. The new version also has 5000 fast foods listed!
"I have gained some weight recently (177 this morning), but am still using DietPower and working on getting back down to goal. I know that weight is something I will be battling for the rest of my life. Some weeks (months) will be better than others, but as long as I keep up the fight, I know I'll never weigh as much as I did before—because this time I have the support of my Web friends and a great tool in DietPower."
